About this Project

Sustrans and their sister charity Railway Paths Limited are responsible for the asset management and maintenance of over 1000 heritage railway bridges around the UK. These structures require inpections and assessments to the same standards as other Highway bridges.

Roles and Responsibility

ECSL have been working with Sustrans for over 5 years, completing a large number of inspections and assessments during this period.

ECSL were responsible for undertaking the visual inspection of the Lumb and Helmsmore viaducts (sections of the same viaduct), specifically looking at scour risk and previous scour damage that has occured on these bridges, followed by the optioneering and feasibility of potential repairs, including costing
